The Living City Project, provides immersive, experiential programs in NYC in which young people engage with the city as classroom, laboratory, studio and community. The Living City Project serves young people from around the world who are seeking a meaningful, creative, collaborative and COVID-safe experience outside in the City. Our ideal client is a young person who wants to go beyond remote learning to work with peers and expert partners on relevant challenges in the city.
We offer two programs: CityGAP for college students on a gap year or on leave, and CityLAB an enrichment program for high school students outside of school hours. We partner with city officials, graffiti artists, theatre experts, policymakers, journalists, entrepreneurs and other educators to engage urgent questions in the city, with students producing work in a range of media, including policy memos, historical fiction, websites, podcasts, artwork, architectural de signs, feature articles, essays, documentaries, etc.
