Our team of about 50 scientific and technical staff is committed to driving progress in the field of polymer technologies through research, development and testing.
Our main research areas are additive manufacturing - jet melting, new materials and material properties, processing, joining and tribology, and various cross-cutting topics. We are proud to collaborate with national and international research institutions and various industrial companies that support our research.
Our state-of-the-art facilities include processing equipment for mixing, kneading, compounding, injection molding, extrusion, additive manufacturing, joining/welding, pressing, thermoforming, hot stamping, and rotational molding. These facilities allow us to produce both research and industrial samples.
As an institute of the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg, we are committed to excellence in teaching and research. At the Institute of Polymer Technology (LKT), we place great emphasis on providing students with in-depth knowledge and experience in the field of polymer technology. To this end, we offer a range of opportunities such as lectures, internships, seminars, excursions and the possibility to write a thesis at a partner university abroad. Our students learn scientific work with application-oriented tasks and are thus prepared for a career in polymer technology.
