Loligo® Systems develop research systems for measuring aquatic animal behavior and respiration under controlled conditions. Our products allow scientists to jump-start measurements of oxygen consumption, behavior, swimming performance, preference/avoidance etc.
• We make swim tunnel respirometers for measuring the physiology, energetics, behavior, biomechanics and kinematics of swimming fish. Applications also include studies of fluids, visualization of flow around objects, hydraulics, and public display of aquatic wildlife.
• We specialize in customer-specified respirometer chambers build to match any type and size of experimental animal, i.e. from a single egg or larvae to adult invertebrates or fish, and offer manual and fully automated intermittent flow respirometry systems using fiber optic oxygen sensors and instruments.
• We offer inexpensive software for tracking the behavior of 1-24 animals inside a common arena and automated video based systems for determining preference/avoidance behavior in aquatic animals. Applications range from determining choice of environmental conditions to ecotoxicology assays in dual choice tanks.
