Effective Altruism is a growing movement which uses evidence and reason to figure out how to do the most good. Our society at the London School of Economics focuses on spreading awareness of Effective Altruism. This includes:
• Talks and events with prominent researchers.
• Facilitating connections between students and practitioners.
• Research Groups.
• Weekly discussions on new topics in Effective Altruism.
• Concepts Workshops aiming to equip students with some of the most useful tools to figure out how they can do good - with their career, money, political engagement, etc.
• Coffee chats or walks with a committee member to introduce interested students to how they can get involved with the community, discuss career goals, decide which global problems to work on, or anything else!
Effective altruism is about answering one simple question: how can we use our resources to help others the most?
Rather than just doing what feels right, we use evidence and careful analysis to find the very best causes to work on.
