Macdonald Barnett was founded in 1956 by A J (Joe) Macdonald. Initially the practice focused on the structural, civil and project management of a wide range of commercial and residential buildings including hospitals, wineries, manufacturing and storage buildings, and associated civil works.
Cliff Barnett joined the practice soon after and was instrumental in the development of Fire Engineering as a new field of Professional Engineering both within New Zealand and internationally. This establishes Macdonald Barnett as one of the longest standing Fire Engineering companies within New Zealand
Our primary focus today is Fire Engineering, with a range of services from preliminary design advice right through to final stage on site construction monitoring. Macdonald Barnett have three offices located in Auckland, Tauranga and Christchurch which offer services to all areas of New Zealand.
