About Makeitwrite
We are a Social Enterprise whose primary mission is to provide free stationary to children in rural schools. Make it write first formed in 2007 when founder Dinesh Mangaru visited Zimbabwe on a business conference. During this time the country was going through some very tough economic times. After the conference as he and colleagues returned to the airport they stopped by a market near Victoria falls as a few people wanted to purchase some crafts and curios. Dinesh joined them, and although he did not have a much money left, he decided to browse the market. At one stall the owner asked him if he saw anything he liked. Not having enough money Dinesh said he was just browsing. The stall owner looked at Dinesh’s notepad and pen, which he was still holding from the conference and said he will barter some items for the book and pen as it had the same value as money, due to his children not having stationery for school. Dinesh went around and collected a number of notepads and pens from his colleagues and handed them over to the stall owner who in return gave Dinesh a number of beautifully handcrafted items. This experience had a profound impact on Dinesh who then started collecting used pens and pencils and donating them to schools and thus Make it write was born. In 2020, Dinesh decided to take some time out of corporate life to establish Make it Write as a Social Enterprise with a social mission to provide stationery to rural schools by developing a few stationery products that individuals and corporate's use on a daily basis.
