We know how to support working women when they have babies. We as a society have that nailed. But when it comes to other major events in women’s lives, such as menopause or miscarriage, we don’t have a clue.
The thing is, not all women will have babies but all women will go through menopause.
So why don’t we create menopause inclusive workplaces that support women through this temporary transition and allow them to thrive at work.
The fact is…
One in ten women will quit their jobs during the peri-menopause.
Half the working population are women.
50 million women in their 30-50's are navigating menopause.
You do the math...but more importantly, let's look at the people.
Peri-menopause and menopause related issues are costing the global economy more than $150 billion annually. Despite having a direct impact on business outputs, only 1 in 4 companies have a menopause policy in place. And even with that, many are a 'one size fits' all approach.
The biggest mistake we are making today is this...
Peri-menopause it temporary! We all accept and support business maternity policies as we recognise women want or need to work and are a valuable asset to our economy.
A good peri menopause policy will allow women to thrive at work and continue to contribute to your orgnanisation years after this 'gap' is behind them.
