About Making Waves Foundation

Making Waves Foundation exists to offer opportunities to people facing disability or disadvantage. Using sailing as a tool, MWF regularly acts as a catalyst for change, where individuals develop a more optimistic outlook and enjoy personal growth and improved life outcomes. Since its inception in 1994, MWF has taken more than 42,000 people sailing, and competed in 18 Sydney to Hobart Yacht Races. Since 2003, MWF has also held the world record for the non-stop and unassisted circumnavigation of Australia. MWF relies on a platform of volunteers to run its programs. Through participation, volunteers raise their life satisfaction and well-being while learning new skills and giving back to society. MWF's programs are inclusive, supportive and challenging. The focus is on working as a team to find solutions to problems. Regular participation and connection with our mentors raises self-esteem and self-confidence, and improves life skills. Want to Create Optimism? You can make change happen by: * Volunteering your time * Making a donation * Buying a boat in our annual Making Waves Regatta * Asking us about sponsorship opportunities
