Marion P. Thomas Charter School (MPTCS) began in 1999 with 60 students in grades K-2. The school was started by members of the Newark community for the community to improve the community through education. Today, there are more than 1300 students in PreK-12th grade and three campuses: PAC and STEAM Elementary Academies and the MPTCS High School of Culinary & Performing Arts.
