In line with Article 44 of the EU Common Fisheries Policy Regulation, the Market Advisory Council (MAC) advises the European Commission and the Member States on matters relevant for the market of fishery and aquaculture products. Presently, the MAC is composed of 74 members from 13 Member States, representing the entire value chain (primary producers, processors, traders, retailers, trade unions) and other interest groups (environmental and development NGOs).
