We are a Community & Learning Centre in a remote, rural village in Kenya. The village is called Matakiri, and it is situated in Tharaka South Division, Tharaka-Nithi county. The centre is driven by the community's most urgent needs. These needs are: Access to technical and vocational skills training to out-of school youths. The intention is to provide youths with self-employable skills. The main thrust of our courses lies within Computing and ICT, Agriculture and Entrepreneurship. Sustainable Agriculture - this aspect of our work is geared to helping the community adopt safe and sustainable agricultural practices that preserve the environment and minimise use of pesticides. Elderly care and related services -we aim to provide support to the elderly, to alleviate loneliness and associated challenges by providing regular socialising meetings, food, and medical checks. SACCO - we run a membership-based organisation enabling members to come together, plan projects and support each other especially in matters entrepreneurship.
