The Marine and Coastal Ecology Research Center (MCERC) is a non-profit (501c3) organization dedicated to protecting and conserving healthy marine ecosystems thus assuring sustainability of ocean and coastal biodiversity. Principal investigators are multidisciplinary senior scientists who collaborate to answer complex questions centering on marine megafauna including whales, dolphins, manatee, sharks, and sea turtles. MCERC faculty are experienced scientists with a passion for robust research & opportunities for citizen scientists. Taino Killer Whales (Greater Antilles) and North Atlantic Humpback Whales (wintering in the Caribbean) are the focus of MCERC's longest running research projects, initiated in 2009. MCERC scientists and their discoveries are featured in professional media films, museum exhibits, publications, conferences, & local outreach events.
