McGrath Solutions takes an innovative approach to increase employment for STEM students with disabilities through internships.
As an organization run by individuals with disabilities for individuals with disabilities, we have faced the harsh reality that college degrees are becoming more competitive and are not enough to obtain employment. Employers want education plus experience. We provide the link between education and employment. Disability barriers are hard to overcome so we provide a leg up to individuals with disabilities by making them marketable to employers.
Our interns provide support to the community by providing affordable IT services to nonprofits and small businesses. This provides an opportunity for individuals with disabilities to get experience while nonprofit organizations and small businesses save money.
Experienced mentors supervise interns using online collaboration tools. Our internships provide individuals with disabilities a chance to adjust to work, build confidence, learn how to follow policies and procedures, how to interact with supervisors and co-workers while adding to their resume.
