Maryland's Commitment to Veterans links Maryland's service members, veterans and their families with mental health and substance misuse support. We help with a variety of needs, from behavioral health to housing, regardless of discharge status or era of service.
RESOURCE COORDINATION: Regional coordinators work with uniformed service members, veterans and family members to access mental health and substance use services either through the VA health care system or community providers regardless of branch of service, era of service, or discharge status. Provides information and referrals regarding supportive services and financial assistance.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Provides education and training opportunities regarding military culture, unique challenges working with this population, evidence-based and best practices, and lived experience for healthcare and behavioral health providers, peers, first responders, and community groups.
GRANT FUNDING: Non-profit organizations can apply for matching funds through our Sheila E. Hixson Grant Fund to establish and expand behavioral health services for Maryland service members, veterans and their families.
