Founded in 1997, as a co-operative society, MEDICOPS works to provide medical relief to poor. Essential medicines are those that satisfy the priority health care needs of the population. They are intended to be available within the context of functioning health systems at all times in adequate amounts, in the appropriate dosage forms, with assured quality, and at a price the individual and the community can afford. When medicines are not available in the public sector, patients will have to purchase medicines from the higher-priced private sector, or forgo treatment altogether. Hence, in the year 1998, we started the First Model Fair Price Pharmacy in Kerala. With Kochi as base, we work to provide medicines at affordable costs to everyone.
