Mediocielo Films is a new and sustainable independent production company based in Brazil and Cuba, focused on producing high quality arthouse movies with innovative approaches in both countries. As a result of a partnership between the Cuban filmmaker Marcel Beltrán and the Brazilian producer/distributor, Paula Gastaud, takes advantage of the relationship with artists and technicians from over the continent to provide multicultural diversity to its productions. The company has two features in development. MOA, an environmental mystery drama, Beltrán's first fiction, and the doc Chinolope, a documentary feature about the outstanding Cuban photographer. Option Zero, their first production together and Marcel's first feature doc, was recently released. The documentary is a Brasil/Cuba/Colombia co-production and had its world premiere at IDFA Luminous 2020 and selected in more than twenty film festivals around the world, including Hot Docs 2021 and DOC NYC 2021, and awarded as Best Feature at MiradasDoc, Spain, and Best Ibero American Documentary at FIDBA, Buenos Aires, in 2022. Mediocielo is a hub of training and educational projects and Marcel and Paula acts regularly doing international consultancies, industry laboratories, mentorship, masters programs and film schools.
