Metron was originally envisioned by Roberto De Angelo in June 2021 during a stroll down King St. in downtown Toronto. As he contemplated how to obtain funding for his project, Assetpay, he had an epiphany: the key to attracting risk capital lies in ensuring that the incentives of investors and startups are perfectly aligned. He concluded that achieving this alignment could be accomplished through the creation of a programmable currency capable of validating on-chain data, complemented by hedge mechanisms designed to minimize investor risk.
