Mic Champs (name inspired by a student) is a rap/poetry/writing workshop was established to encourage young people to express themselves in a creative way. Taking the young people’s through a process of understanding rhyming schemes, brainstorming on chosen topic(s) by each young person to write/rap their chosen content, partially assist them in writing and encourage those who would like to perform their final work (record their work, perform live, music videos, content creating, expand original song into a project) to do so. Providing a safe and comfortable environment, students don’t have to participate in all creative work. We have witnessed the students work collectively, where a few students will write solely and another student may perform only too.
