Established in 2017 by a group of PhD students from diverse academic backgrounds, The MHR publishes research from diverse disciplines, interpreting ‘historical’ as a broad underlying element of scholarship within the Arts and Humanities. Although The MHR originated at the University of Nottingham, it is dedicated to publishing work from Arts and Humanities students across the world.
As an online, open-access publication, The MHR is at the cutting-edge of the emerging landscape of modern scholarly publishing and makes a contribution to the important task of establishing the reliability and integrity of scholarship online. Open Access is the condition where the copyright holder of a scholarly work grants usage rights to others using an open license (Creative Commons or equivalent) allowing for immediate free access to the work and permitting any user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose.
