The MHFCN was initially announced in 2017 a commercially led, inclusive interest group which aims to consolidate the strengths of the hydrogen and fuel cell sector in the region. This Network will support fuel cell and hydrogen active businesses and groups in the region to commercialise the technology.
The Network produced the first UK Hydrogen Strategy. This fuel cell and hydrogen strategy (written and shown to the Department for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) in 2017) was devised and agreed by the partner organisations involved and formed the basis for the Midlands Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Network, one of six regional trade associations that now represent the UK Midlands hydrogen economy. It included Intelligent Energy, Hypermotive, Fuel Cell Systems, Bramble amongst others and was led by Birmingham-based fuel cell business Adelan.
