The miniNO project focuses on the critical first 1000 days of human life, crucial for brain and overall development. Prematurity disrupts this process, altering brain maturation and minipuberty – a key phase regulating vital functions. By investigating the relationship between minipuberty, brain nitric oxide signaling, and later-life health issues, the project aims to improve outcomes for millions of prematurely born individuals. With 10 teams across Europe collaborating from 2020 to 2026, it promises impactful advancements in premature birth research.
