Scott Fitzpatrick is the 39th state auditor of Missouri. The Missouri State Auditor is elected by the people of Missouri. The State Auditor's Office has approximately 115 employees. Responsibilities
The State Auditor's Office is Missouri's independent watchdog agency. The State Auditor’s Office works to ensure the proper use of public funds and to improve the effectiveness and accountability of Missouri government.
Audits examine financial practices to identify potential waste, opportunities for fraud, cybersecurity weaknesses, and whether government organizations and programs are operating efficiently and transparently.

• Counties in Missouri that do not have a county auditor
• Other local government entities upon petition by the voters
Audit Standards
Audits are conducted in accordance with audit standards contained in Government Auditing Standards, issued by the Comptroller General of the United States.
