MobShop was founded as Accompany, Inc. in October 1998 by Jim Rose, Salim Teja and Jonathan Ehrlich as a San-Francisco and Toronto-based start-up in the field of eCommerce demand aggregation. It raised more than $50M during 3 funding rounds with major VCs such as the Mayfield Fund, Marc Andreessen, VIsa International, Hikari Tsushin, WR Hambrecht and several others. MobShop pivoted from its original eCommerce roots into a global provider of demand aggregation software and services for online marketplaces. It closed following the dot-com era in late 2001.
