The Max Planck Institute (MPI) Luxembourg for Procedural Law was a research institution that undertook interdisciplinary and collaborative research in the fields of international, European, comparative, and regulatory procedural law. On 1 January 2024, the Max Planck Institute for International, European and Regulatory Procedural Law (MPI) became the Luxembourg Centre for European Law (LCEL) a University of Luxembourg Interdisciplinary Centre. Since its inception in 2012, the Institute had developed a unique focus on a challenging field of legal research, namely the procedures underlying dispute settlement and decision-making processes, with the aim of identifying and analyzing emerging trends in dispute resolution and decision-making across Europe and globally. Over the years, the MPI Luxembourg had established a continuous and productive dialogue with European and international courts and institutions. It organized lecture series, international conferences, and summer academies, becoming a global hub for researchers specializing in all forms of dispute resolution. The Institute was structured around two Research Departments and an International Doctoral Research School on Successful Dispute Resolution.
