Habitat for Humanity at the Milwaukee School of Engineering is a student-led organization that works with the international Habitat for Humanity organization. Our group volunteers within the Milwaukee Community at local build days and ReStores.
Habitat for Humanity partners with individuals in local communities to provide access to affordable housing. Future homeowners participate in financial literacy classes and contribute sweat equity by working on the construction of their own homes and potentially other projects. Habitat also collaborates with the Peace Corps and volunteers to complete the building process. In addition, ReStores — second-hand stores offering furniture, building materials, and home improvement supplies — are operated to support the mission and are open to the public.
Chapter meetings are held as needed, typically once per month. Opportunities to participate in build days and ReStore events are regularly posted on our Microsoft Teams channel for sign-up.
