MultiFutures Project

"MultiFutures," funded by Horizon Europe, is a transformative project aimed at broadening policy options to achieve sustainable societal transitions. By integrating alternative economic paradigms into established transition scenarios, such as the EC's long-term strategic visions, this project enhances the framework within which policy actions are assessed and developed. Utilizing state-of-the-art AI language tools, extensive stakeholder engagement, and cutting-edge modeling, "MultiFutures" seeks to redefine the policy landscape. The project progresses through several phases: 1. Identifying and categorizing alternative paradigms. 2. Quantifying desired futures using 'beyond GDP' indicators. 3. Engaging stakeholders to co-create policies and balance trade-offs. 4. Assessing the impacts of these paradigms through integrated modeling focusing on economic, environmental, and social metrics. Furthermore, a large-scale European survey is being conducted to understand public perception and acceptance of these new paradigms. The ultimate goal of "MultiFutures" is to provide policymakers with a robust, nuanced understanding of potential pathways to foster a climate-neutral, just, and resilient society.
