The 9-month mentoring & residential program MunichFilmUp! welcoming fresh film school graduates with their first feature film projects was launched 2021 by HFF München with Pop Up Film Residency as exclusive partner and with FILMSCHOOLFEST Munich and FILMFEST MÜNCHEN as associated partners. The Kirch Foundation generously funds the program ever since and awards the KIRCH FOUNDATION AWARD of 5000 EURO for the best project at the end of the program.
After each years application process, 6 participants from all over the world (one or max. two are HFF München alumni) are selected and take part in the program that notably consists of one workshop held in Munich parallel to the FILMSCHOOLFEST Munich in November and the presentation of their projects to selected film industry professionals and the award ceremony at the Cannes Film Festival. In between, each aspiring filmmaker benefits from online mentoring sessions and finally a tailor-made Pop Up Film Residency of three weeks hosted by a film professional/mentor who fits both - the project and the filmmaker in question.
