Muses & Melanin Fellowship Program For Bipoc Creative Writers

Muses & Melanin Fellowship Program For Bipoc Creative Writers company information, Employees & Contact Information

This is the inside joke of creative writing programs in America...we continue to graduate talented writers with no business acumen. At best, it is misguided. At worst, it is fraudulent.      --Nick Ripatrazone, Author, Ember Days Muses & Melanin is a supportive, hybrid, fully funded eight-month cohort-based professional development program for California creative writers of color who aspire to become professional authors. A few spaces are reserved for talented out-of-state applicants. The Fellowship is designed for those who do not yet have a lengthy list of publishing credits, are not under a publishing contract, do not have literary agent representation, and do not have a doctoral degree in English, Creative Writing, or Literature (a Master's degree in these subjects is fine, such as an MFA or MA). A Bachelor's degree is required. Fellows complete a comprehensive learning and support curriculum that equips them with the strategies, tools, and knowledge they need to elevate their literary career trajectories from good to great. The curriculum launches attendees into the literary profession with a menu of professional development workshops, Weekend Intensives, and co-working sessions. This is a hybrid program, and Fellows must be able to attend occasional onsite meetings in San Francisco. Competitive candidates have been writing seriously for a minimum of five years, can demonstrate seriousness of purpose and intent, and evidence readiness and preparation for, and commitment to, a comprehensive training program with professional expectations. Applicants cannot be full-time students during the eight months of the program. Applications for the 2025 cohort open in April.
