Museums, Galleries and Heritage Studies are a part of the department of Media, Culture, Heritage within the School of Arts and Cultures at Newcastle University. We currently offer 3 postgraduate programmes to our students in Museum Studies, Curating Art and Global Heritage Management
We provide taught masters programmes in Museum Studies, Heritage Studies, and Art Museums and Galleries Studies, as well as supervising doctoral students in these fields. Over the past two decades, our programmes have taught students who have gone on to work in the cultural sector internationally.
Our department is also involved in nationally and internationally renowned research on topics including museums and ageing; heritage and conflict; European identity; and museums and social trust.
