my carbon revolution (mcr) is a privately-owned social business with a mission to create and help run independent+sustainable+local community energy schemes that produce renewable power and improve energy efficiency.
In this first phase, mcr is focusing on older business parks. We are determined to make the UK's businesses (particularly SMEs) greener, cheaper to run and more pleasant to work in. Our work is generally project based and each scheme we develop will aim to deliver:
1. long term & low-risk ethical investment opportunities
2. lower energy bills for local businesses
3. lower energy bills for local residents in fuel poverty
4. significant reductions in carbon emissions for communities
We are currently making good progress with our first project on Calleva Park - see Calleva Community Energy (CCE). mcr has already helped CCE raise £412k to install 300kW of solar pv on the roof of 24 small and medium-sized businesses. This project is expected to generate a surplus of £400k over 20 years which will be re-invested in energy efficiency measures across the community in commercial and residential premises (50/50) where it is most needed. £50k will be re-invested in year one. The project will also deliver energy management services including monitoring & targeting to local businesses as soon as the solar pv goes live.
