The Nanaimo Community Wellness Network (NCWN) is made up of a group of Indigenous and settler community members working collaboratively with Island Health to develop a shared understanding, identify shared priorities and to take collective action to address locally prioritized social determinants of health and modifiable risk factors to improve the quality of life in Nanaimo and surrounding communities. The Network works together to develop or review policies, programs, infrastructure, and amenities that will make this a better place for everyone to live, work, learn and play.
Our partnership with Island Health focuses on Local Health Area 68. Our areas of wellness include the communities of Snaw-Naw-As and Snuneymuxw First Nations, Cedar, Gabriola, Lantzville, Nanaimo, Mudge, Protection and Yellow Point.
