Entrepreneurial Pathways for R&D in Nanotechnology
IEEE SFBA Nanotechnology Council
November 14, 2017
Conference Room, Texas Instruments, Semiconductor Drive, Sunnyvale, CA
Call for Presentations and Panels
Nanotechnology R&D has progressed with numerous discoveries and inventions over the last decades. Universities and R&D labs alike have been active in continuing research with applications in diverse areas to include, as examples, novel materials with nano and micro properties, semiconductors, healthcare, renewable & alternative energy.
Importance to different industry verticals and pertinence to nanotechnology products is the theme of this conference. This conference explores entrepreneurial pathways for research in nanotechnology towards product development, identification of market opportunities, manufacturing engineering, supply chain, packaging, pricing, reliability and quality, competitive analysis, financing, angel and venture funding.
We invite talk proposals from speakers with R&D track record in national laboratories, students and faculty in universities, as well as researchers in companies from any part of the world. It is imperative for the proposals to address the entrepreneurial pathways for the R&D work. Please submit talk proposals with biographies of the speakers, with their organizational affiliations.
Suggested Topics / Sessions
Technology Transfer and Licensing Opportunities from University & R&D Labs
Venture Capital and Investors Panel - What the VCs look for in Nano startup?
Intellectual Property aspects of startup and early stage companies
Co-working lab space, nano fabrication and prototype options
Incubation and accelration facilities
Corporate strategic investments and M&A in nano
Government agency funding: SBIR, STTR... in NSF, DOE, NIH, NCR etc.
Government R&D facilities in nano: Molecular Foundary, LLNL, LBL, Stanford, Georgia Tech......
3D Printing Options, Prototyping and Manufacturing Engineering Readiness
Finding R&D Talents, Management Team & Cofounders
The "entrepreneurial pathway" is the key theme of this particular event. You may discuss technology transfer examples for nanotechnology research, products/service development with specific cases from nano R&D in labs and universities. You may discuss company examples from seed through early stages and may be some in the advanced stages in nano.
I am NOT limiting your thinking to one or two areas in nano only and suggest you to even think broader in for example nano-micro, MEMs, NEMs and 3D printing.
You are also recommended to think all potential vertical applications and industry domains, and markets to include: healthcare, energy, semiconductors, packaging ....,
IEEE SFBA Nanotechnology Council has organized more than 130 monthly talks, more than 20 annual conferences, including workshops and entrepreneurial events. The attendance for annual conferences has reached 250 nanotechnology professionals. Our previous annual conferences have included world famous nanotechnology scientists, R&D executives, venture capitalists, corporate executives, Nobel laureates, academicians, heads of government agencies like NSF and DOE, and nanotechnology pioneers.
Please send your submissions on or before October 1, 2017. Please include the following in your proposal:
