The company is repurposing cicletanine (CIC), a de-risked hypertension drug (launched in France but not the US; Navitas holds the US IND). Our work is supported by proprietary insights on mechanism of action, along with an aggressive intellectual-property strategy and a team with deep strength in organic chemistry and drug-product design. Current and pending patents include composition of matter for a new form of the drug, as well as use patents in cardiovascular, metabolic and other therapeutic domains.
Earlier efforts involved a collaboration with Harvard that led to (1) asset sale to Gilead (including favorable return to investors) (2) publication of early results (pulmonary arterial hypertension) in the Archives of Internal Medicine:
