The North Carolina Occupational Therapy Association was founded in 1957 and was incorporated as a nonprofit professional association in 1976. Dedicated volunteers also led the drive for licensure in 1984. From then until now, occupational therapy has grown from a few therapists around the state to over 5,800 licensed OT and OTA practitioners in many different specialty fields. And yet the mission continues. Providing leadership in advocacy to legislation and policy makers. Supporting continued competence of OT practice through several comprehensive educational conferences each year, from the coast to the mountains. Helping to create networking opportunities and resources for our members.
