The Nigeria Commodity Exchange (NCX) is a self-regulatory organisation that facilitates trade of locally produced commodities for buyers, within and outside Nigeria. NCX provides an electronic marketplace that links buyers (consumers including processors and exporters) and sellers (smallholder farmers, aggregators and traders) of agricultural commodities, whilst assuring price discovery, a reliable end-to-end system for warehouse management, grading, matching orders and timely settlement of trade.
NCX is a vibrant organisation, that has government ownership but with a private sector outlook. With a clearly defined value-proposition, NCX is committed to enhancing food security in Nigeria and the African Continent by increasing farming outputs, reducing post-harvest losses and raising incomes to farmers. NCX is committed to minimising the adverse effect of middlemen and commodity hoarders.
Our vision is to be a world-class commodity exchange that facilitates a thriving commodity trading ecosystem with a variety of participants who operate interdependently within established rules and regulations. NCX is well-suited to play an active role in promoting the quality and standards needed to drive the export of Nigeria's agricultural commodities. NCX shall focus on spot trading of agricultural commodities in the short term and extend to trading of derivative instruments and non-agriculture commodities in the long term.
