Neomicra is a spin-off company from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg's Department of Physics, pioneering nano- and microelectronics and sensor technology through the digitization of laser-beam microscope control units.
In contrast to the traditional maskless systems, which are based on a customized, expensive hardware, neomicra's patented control unit is mostly based on a high-performance software. This makes it extremely scalable and powerful. In contrast to traditional systems, the time required for pattern generation does not depend on the complexity of the structure. This reduces write times substantially (form many hours to seconds) for complex structures, like photonic crystals. This power can also be used to generate and manipulate patterns "on the fly", which pushes the quality of multilayer and adaptive structures to the next level.
