Operational flight involves many physiological and cognitive challenges, such as loss of spatial disorientation or disorders of clear thinking as the result of cognitive load and drowsiness. Detecting such events in advance and alerting the pilots is critical for saving lives. Our team developed a solution based on integrating multiple sources of information with an emphasis on brain activity as measured through EEG. However, despite the fact that almost every system on the plane is monitored, there are still no tools for monitoring the cognitive state of the pilot, which could help prevent human errors and improve flight safety.
