New Roots works with communities that lack access to farm fresh food to create sustainable Fresh Stop Markets. The communities pool their money which ensures the farmer will sell all of what is ordered, and the shareholders pay on a sliding scale according to their ability. This in turn means that everyone gets the fresh food we all need to be healthy and happy.
In our quest to unite communities against food injustice, New Roots organizes Fresh Stop Markets-- "pop up" farm-fresh food markets at local churches and community centers in fresh food insecure neighborhoods. The food has been paid for in advance so that farmers don’t face the same degree of risk as they do with a standard farmers’ market.
