Previously the Research and Development Team was part of the Strategic Health Authority NHS North West. From the 1st April 2013 the Research and Development Team became a regionally devolved function hosted by Salford Royal Foundation Trust. The work of the team will continue across the North West of England to help create the right conditions for health research and development to make a difference to patient care.
The NHS Research & Development North West Team has contributed to the development of research resources and infrastructure, regional collaborative networks and communities and to Patient and Public Involvement in Research. We have contributed to developments such as the Health and Well Being Alliance and the BioMedical Research Centre and also to the establishment of the Comprehensive Local Research Networks (CLRNs) and the Northwest People in Research Forum. As the NHS moves through a period of reconfiguration the work of the team will contuine to colaborate with the newly established AHSNs, The National Commissioning Board, Health Education England, Local Education and Training Boards and the reconfigured CRNs. Our aspiration for the North West region is to be:
