I have over 20 years of experience in practicing my own skills in MI in client-counselor situations and in group settings. For 13 years, I was employed by the Swedish Criminal Justice System as a Program Leader where MI was the foundation for all motivational and treatment programs offered individually and/or in groups. I applied MI in situations involving behavior change in a number of areas including alcohol and substance abuse, criminal behavior, violence, victims of sexual offenses, eating disorders, self-esteem, boundary setting, impulse control, and other physical and psychological issues.
