Nationaal Park Zuid-Kennemerland is in 1995 ontstaan uit een samenwerkingsverband van de terreinbeheerders Natuurmonumenten, PWN, Staatsbosbeheer, particuliere eigenaren, IVN, de omliggende gemeenten Zandvoort, Haarlem, Bloemendaal en Velsen en de provincie Noord-Holland. Hierdoor kan het park als één gebied worden beheerd.
