The mission of NRGNHA is to preserve Northern New Mexico's communities, heritage, culture, and environment through partnerships, education, and interpretation. Our vision is to foster community and economic vitality through Northern New Mexico's heritage and environment.
The Northern Rio Grande National Heritage Area was initially established by Congressional authorization, limited by periodic reauthorization. After persistent efforts with our congressional delegation, December 2022 saw the passage of a reauthorization bill granting us a secure fifteen-year status. This milestone has enabled us to embark on long-term partnerships and program development within Rio Arriba, Taos, and Santa Fe County.
