About Nungunungu

Locally & family-owned boutique safari company based in Tanzania. We offer photo safaris, birdwatching, trekking, and custom itineraries tailored to guest interests. We value ethical tourism, environmental stewardship, positive community impact, & authentic travel experiences. Founded by avid travelers friends who have been exploring Tanzania for more than 10 years with extensive first-hand experience in photography and Mount Kilimanjaro trekking. Their passion for nature photography, birdwatching, exploring the highest mountains in Africa, glamping on untamed places in Tanzania, witnessing the greatest migration show on earth, and sun basking on the white sand and clear blue beaches of Zanzibar got them so excited to share the motherland experience to the rest of the world. “Nungunungu” is the Swahili word that means Porcupine, a large rodent with sharp spines to protect itself against predators. Nungunungu is a fascinating creature with unique qualities that align with our spirit which are Authenticity, Ethical, and Sustainable. Just like the porcupine, we offer unique and unforgettable experiences that leave a lasting impression on all who embark on our adventures. We take the same care with planning trips for our clients as we do when our family, colleagues, and friends are visiting. We prioritize collaborating with vendors who practice the same values, ensuring that our guests can indulge in the beauty of nature with a clear conscience. Karibu Nungunungu, Karibu Tanzania!!
