Founded in 1997, the NUS Astronomical Society (NUSAS) is a student organisation under the National University of Singapore, with a goal of expanding the reach and awareness of astronomy education to the NUS community and the general public.
Through our weekly sessions during the NUS semesters, we conduct regular talks to educate our audience on some essential knowledge about astronomy and how we relate to the wider Universe in approachable and entertaining manners fit for anyone from any background; we also conduct stargazing sessions where our members can get hands-on experiences setting up and using telescopes to admire the Universe up close with their own eyes.
In addition, NUSAS is the proud organiser of our two flagship projects: AstroChallenge, a national astronomy competition held in collaboration with the NTU Astronomical Society for secondary and high school students to pit their knowledge in astronomy against each other, as well as AstroBash, a regular stargazing overseas tour when we take our members to dark sky sites to seek refuge from the light pollution of Singapore and admire the pristine night skies in all its glory.
