The Organization Development and Knowledge Management master’s degree program at George Mason University is an experientially-based curriculum designed to equip adult learners with the knowledge, skills, and tools to navigate today’s complex work environment. Graduates will leave the program with the ability to positively contribute to improving organizational culture, climate, and team environments, ultimately supporting organizations in moving toward more connected, humane, and transformative social enterprises. Located just outside of Washington, D.C., in Northern Virginia, the program is ideal for those working in public and private enterprises, non-profit organizations, and those who are consultants and entrepreneurs.
The 35-credit hour program is cohort-based and structured with the working adult in mind. A cohort of learning peers navigate the program together from start to finish, enrolled in the same classes and learning and growing together. Running five semesters, the cohort begins with the fall semester, continues through the spring, summer, and next fall, and then completes after the second spring semester. In all, it is about 20 months long. Classes meet, primarily, on Friday evenings and Saturdays.
No tests, such as the GRE or GMAT, are required for admission. Virginia, as well as D.C. and Maryland, residents who qualify will receive in-state tuition. Scholarships are available.
The curriculum includes theoretical, practical, and personal developmental material preparing students to both understand the complex and ambiguous nature of organizational life, while also providing practical skills to affect positive change. Underlying the theoretical and practical is an additional component focused on inner-self-development, the purpose of which is for students to cultivate an inner landscape accessible and supportive of their work in organizations.
