The Austrian Institute for School and Sports Facilities is a public Foundation of the Austrian Federal Government (Ministry of Education, Ministry of Sports and Ministry of Science, Research and Economy) and of all nine Provinces.
The institute was established in 1964 upon a UNESCO recommendation.
It is a competence center for questions of planning, construction and maintenance of school and sports facilities. OEISS acts as a network platform for national and international experts and serves as a contact point in this field. The institute develops and gathers information, experience and expertise and promotes the transfer of knowledge. OEISS is aware of trends and changes and supports the realization of new ideas.

- Organizing of seminars, conferences, courses and information trips
