At the end of 2020, the Ministry of Oil and Gas of the Government of National Unity was reactivated, and a Minister of Oil and Gas was appointed in March 2021. The minister of oil and gas is responsible for setting the general policy for the sector, proposing regulatory and executive policies, encouraging investment in oil wealth, and ensuring its proper exploitation and development. They are also responsible for approving investment licenses, concession contracts, and similar contracts for the extraction of oil and gas, as well as cancelling or accepting control in accordance with the applicable legislation.
