The OISTE Foundation is not for profit organization based in Geneva, Switzerland. Founded in 1998, OISTE was created with the objectives of promoting the use and adoption of international standards to secure electronic transactions, expand the use of digital certification and ensure the interoperability of certification authorities' e-transaction systems.
The OISTE Foundation strives to influence the decision-making processes that shape:
The human right to data privacy in the digital space and the control of digital identity by the individual user.
The development of technologies under the foundation’s trusted root of trust, puts the individual user in control of their identity and data.
The respect of a human code of ethics in artificial intelligence.

OISTE holds special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the UN (ECOSOC) and interacts with the Human Rights Council, the International Telecommunications Union, and the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS).
