In the 1990s, Dr. Sancilio owned and operated one of the largest drug research companies in the world. When Norwegian fishing industry executives visited him at his lab, they presented data that would ultimately lead to the development of a prescription omega-3 called Lovaza. The data showed that concentrated omega-3 could be used to treat various diseases and soon the US FDA would agree and approve Lovaza as a prescription drug.
Using this knowledge and 30 years of subsequent discoveries, he designed several brands of omega-3s and various other products that are currently marketed in the United States and around the world.
