Omega US is the US subsidiary of the Omega Insurance Holdings (OIH), an international insurer and reinsurer. The OIH is headquartered in Bermuda with operations in London, Bermuda, Chicago and Cologne.
The OIH's origins centered on the management of Lloyd's Syndicate 958, which has an exceptional record of unbroked underwriting profit since its establishment in 1980. In 2005 Omega began the execution of its strategy to focus Omega from being primarily a manager of the third party capital supporting the Syndicate to becoming a insurance and reinsurance operation with its own capital at risk. OIH has raised approximately US$500 million since 2005 and is rated A- (Excellent) by AM Best and is traded on the AIM.
Omega US was formed in 2007 by OIH to write business in the US on a surplus lines basis. It is developing a book of business very similar to the accounts underwritten by Syndicate 958 and commenced underwriting in the first quarter of 2008.
